The Holocaust Center at Bristol Community College originated from a need to memorialize the atrocities committed against the people of Jewish descent and others by the Hitler/Nazi regime during World War II. While the facts of the Holocaust are clear, it was never be forgotten.

Under the auspices of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Bedford’s Holocaust Education and Memorial Committee, a variety of faith communities have worked to sponsor events dealing with the Holocaust in the southeastern Massachusetts area. And, for the last 10 years, Bristol Community College (BCC) has sponsored a course entitled,Remembering the Holocaust in Literature and History. To augment both of these projects, the Holocaust Center found its home at BCC.

Through the Holocaust Center’s exploration into the lives of victims, perpetrators, rescuers and bystanders many horrific and heroic events come to light. The Holocaust Center sponsors speakers, workshops, conferences and has a small library of Holocaust and genocide material for use by the BCC community and the general public. The BCC Holocaust Center now in its third year provides historical information, educational experiences, and multimedia resources to communicate the suffering, pain and death of innocent millions who were impacted by the Holocaust and other genocides.
